FLEAS:

Fleas are a real problem YEAR AROUND .

Boy oh' Boy , What An Understatement !

To start with Fleas can lay dormant for months ( such as during the Winter ) after a blood meal and then reawaken suddenly in the right temperatures , from just a slight tremor upon the carpet . Outside they can hide all over, awaiting the passing pet of their choice ( Cat Fleas For Cats , Dog Fleas For Dogs, Rat Fleas For Rats and so on ) or they will live on & among us humans too, until the better blood meal - comes strolling along, just begging for a biting .

In the house there are specific treatment steps and outside there are other treatment steps, you must take to control and eliminate fleas but, they all center around a proper hygiene of the area and correct selection of your insecticides . Remember that the Label, Is The Law; so follow it, as the advice you should take, as that all else including this - is just a field story of exterminators treatments, that also worked !

Since fleas can lay several hundred eggs at one time, that then become adult fleas very quickly (about a days hatch time in 72+ degree weather ) - new Adult fleas will be laying eggs in just a day or two so, your problems will just grow faster than you can spray & Re-spray. Outside, as that hygiene is nearly impossible , Yard Granules Do Help a lot , and so does bathing the pet Plus treatments of the effected pet with a safe drop on their coat, but, more is available.

Consider that Fleas go through 4 stages of life, just to become a fully functioning , blood sucking , egg laying adults. There's the Egg stage, the Pupa stage the Larva stage & then Adult Stage . If their in the Egg Stage , you really can't hurt them - well , this side of FIRE ! It in development to the Pupa Stage where they are protected by a cocoon that they can be targeted though its still very difficult to get to them. In the Larva Stage, you can kill them with contact liquid sprays and also in the Adult Stage , you can kill them with liquid sprays.

Depending upon just insecticides & hygiene methods, to do the work for you could have a long hard fight of new hatchlings to vacuum up but, your kill time can be greatly expedited by a 4 pronged approach :

1.) Clean up the area very well. Vacuum daily inside, wash covers &/or spray drapes & pillows too

2.) Kill the adults & larva with Contact Liquid Sprays ( DEMON or Permethrin last maybe 15 days in perfect laboratory conditions - less in others ) ; Work The House Well, With Your Spray while keeping all other creatures out - until all sprays are completely dry ) .

3.) Stop the Eggs To Pupa Stage, by adding Insect Growth Regulators ( IGR ) to your insecticides can keep the insects from ever reaching Adulthood. Then If insects can't become an egg laying Adults, the problems can't continue to grow !

4.) Use Yard Granules outside and be sure to mist them several times daily, as they are activated by moisture. Retreat as required as they do become less effective as they are wetted ( 15 to 30 days ) .

Adult Fleas Exposure to the IGR along with the contact kill sprays ( such as DEMON or Permethrin ) thus stops most insects development, into Adulthood & their continued feeding on your loved ones. Your normally out of bugs ( Fleas in this case ) in just a few days ( perhaps 1 to 2 weeks ) unless of course, new Fleas are brought home, into the protected area. Then complete Re-treatment , inside of a few days , may sometimes be required for really bad infestations. Remember, there could be insects at many stages of development .

Outside as heavy rains may wash over or completely away your Yard Granules so more frequent granule applications may be required. In time, with a combination of insecticides like DEMON or Permethrin , plus an IGR, you can kill the living adult Fleas and stop their reinforcements too !

Bed Bugs A Biting ?

Do we "Run For Them Hills " perhaps ? Burn the Bedding, the Sofas & the Chairs Or Just Cut Off All Our Hair ? Use Liquid Sprays , some fancy Heat Treatments or perhaps Powdered Insecticides ? YES, to all the above perhaps seems to be some of what is effective today, as that as "Drew " said in that cute little movie " They're Back ", And this time with a vengeance, like we've never seen before & in any building !

Where removal and replacement of materials effected is one viable option if you have the funds cleanliness added to extermination and periodic re-treatment is today, next to Godliness Bedbugs now have much thicker shells than our grandparents bugs did and they have improved nerve centers which means they are resistant to many insecticides and you will have to find the one that works for your bugs plus rotate insecticides as required.

Apartments buildings or low cost motels, are usually the one’s first thought to harbor bed bugs, but they are even found these days, in day centers, movie theater seats, office buildings, hospital beds, school chairs, public Laundromats, College dorm rooms, beds, gyms and on public transportation too including all forms such Buses, Trains & yes even on Jets and Ships, not to mention then taken back to private homes on your clothes. And bedbugs are not found just in the low rent districts either. It was reported last year, that even a very sheik little boutique on 5th Ave. in NYC, was closed for several days, during the rush of the Christmas shopping season, just to treat their bedbug infestation.

Since DDT, is no longer available to treat bedbugs , several treatments with other insecticides in a rotating progression, spread over several days, is normally required . Additionally, liquid sprays when combined with heat treatments, can kill the bedbugs, their larva and cook the eggs so they can't hatch (& hopefully not destroy the materials being treated) appears to be one of the best methods available. Also Insect Growth Regulators ( IRG ) added to liquid spray regiments can take the place of some heat treatments and provide longer term treatments. If withheld from hatching as with IRG usage the adults can then be handled with application of sprays on a regular basis if the areas are kept clean from re-infestation. The use of a HEPA ( Hot ) vacuum system to remove them was also recommended by many Exterminators after their trying of many types of devices .

Remember the cleaning all surfaces thoroughly , before the treatment process begins can remove insects ( by way of a vigorous vacuuming or washing & machine drying process ) plus several re-treatments with insecticides will definitely improve your ability, to eradicate these pest. Constant and periodic re-inspections are also a must, while often required to be done during dark conditions, since they come out at night, ( oh that will be fun ! ) but Bed -Bugs , "they just love the night life" !
